Sole reflections: Future Day Spa

in collaboration with Ben Paul, Caitlin Fargher and Nunami Sculthorpe-Green

Friday 17th (9am - 3pm ) & Saturday 18th (11am - 3pm) January 2025

What scents, stories, and rituals might soften the edges of an uncertain future?

Bath Bombs that make us kinder? Potions that excite? Balms for when we’re worried? Step into the Future Day Spa at Rosny Farm Arts Centre, where young spa masters weave potions steeped in care for the future—elixirs to nurture, inspire, and awaken a deeper connection to ourselves, each other, and the earth.

Simmering with possibility, we invite you into child-led conversations about our collective future while exploring a series of bathing experiences created by artists Ben Paul and Caitlin Fargher. Sole Reflections: Future Day Spa is an exploration of hope and resilience in the face of an uncertain future. Through the simple and transformative rituals of sharing, listening, rest, and care, we aim to nourish a deeper understanding of our shared future—infused with intergenerational hope and resilience.

During the workshop in the lead up to the Future Day Spa open day, hopes and fears for the future were explored by listening to our local environment with Nunami Sculthorpe-Green, making special potions, and practicing to hosting community with Emma Maye Gibson. During the Spa Day participants hosted their family, friends, and community, by taking them through a spa experience that collectively imagined a way towards sustainable and desired futures. Community members engaged in conversations with their young hosts, supported by Ben, Caitlin and Emma Maye, about hopes and fears for the world 20 years from now. Young hosts then selected ‘healing potions’ to prescribe to spa attendees that supported these future aspirations.
